The player controls RoboCop, who is lured into a trap by future Terminators during his quest to patrol the streets of Detroit. By uploading itself to the computer network, it becomes the seed from which the evil Skynet grows. Years later, in a post-apocalyptic future, RoboCop is reactivated and must aid the human resistance by attacking and defeating Skynet once and for all.

The game is a platformer with heavy shooting elements and consists of 10 levels. Many enemies stand in RoboCop's way and must be destroyed with 8 different weapons. RoboCop starts the game with only a basic pistol, but other weapons can also be found, including flamethrowers, grenade launchers, laser guns, homing missiles, and more. While all weapons have unlimited ammunition, only two can be carried at a time. If RoboCop is killed, the currently equipped weapon will be lost.
