The intrepid trio of Layton, Luke, and Emmy are called upon to stop the mysterious Masked Gentleman who is terrorizing the town of Montedore with his dark miracles, such as turning citizens into stone. The professor suspects the involvement of the Mask of Chaos, a mask said to grant great power to those who wear it. Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask features the same hand-drawn animated artwork as previous titles, but thanks to the Nintendo 3DS system, it also features 3D animations that add depth to the graphics. There is also a new mode where the player must assist the young Professor Layton in exploring ancient ruins - help him avoid all the obstacles and reach the exits of a series of puzzling rooms.
