Your adventure begins here
You will choose to be a hero or heroine in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, and you can name yourself whatever you want. The story begins soon after your character moves to the Alola region. As soon as you arrive, your adventures begin to unfold, and you will meet many people and Pokémon as you grow and learn.

Visit the Alola region
Your new adventure in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon takes place on a chain of tropical islands. Four islands rich in nature and one man-made island make up the Alola region. The Alola region is also known as a tourist area. Tourists come from all over the world! Alola is surrounded by sea. It has a diverse ecology consisting of Pokémon that have lived as natives of the Alola region for generations, along with Pokémon that have more recently arrived in the Alola region from other regions.

The Island Challenge
One aspect of the unique culture that has developed in the Alola region is the Island Challenge, an adventurous ritual that involves traveling to each of the four islands. This event helps young people become great Pokémon Trainers. As the main character of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, you too are destined to attempt this island challenge.

Great Trials
The final trial on each island is called the Grand Trial. It is a Pokémon battle against the Kahuna who leads that island. If a participant in the trial manages to pass this Grand Trial, they will be publicly recognized for having passed all the trials on the island and will be allowed to move on to the next island.

Island Challenge Trials
To complete the Island Challenge, young trial participants must overcome trials held on each of the four islands. These trials aren't limited to battling Pokémon. They take a variety of forms, such as finding items or completing knowledge tests. You won't be able to complete these through ordinary methods!

Z-Moves Presentation
A new element has been introduced to Pokémon battles in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon: Z-Moves. Z-Moves are powerful moves that can only be used once per battle. When the wishes of the Trainer and the Pokémon resonate with each other and both unleash their full power at the same time, the result is the explosive force of a Z-Move! All Pokémon can use Z-Moves to perform at their best in battle!
