Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games features 16 Olympic sports, including track and field, archery, clay pigeon shooting, track cycling, and 10-meter diving. In addition to these traditional sports, the game features a number of Dream Events. Each Dream Event is based on a popular sport, but is made even more exciting by the addition of obstacles, power-ups, and opponents from the world of Mario and Sonic.

Sonic, Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Tails and 12 other characters from the Mario and Sonic games are ready to take on the challenge and climb to the podium. Each character has their own special abilities and athletic potential best suited to the various competitions. It is no surprise then that Sonic is a speed specialist, while Mario is a champion jumper. As you play you will learn which characters are best suited to each discipline. Their talents are put to the test in three game modes, including Mission mode, in which the player must complete special levels with certain characters.

Thanks to the wireless functionality, you can challenge three other players in Multiplayer mode.
