Ring Fit Adventure for Nintendo Switch is a new type of game that fuses fitness and adventure.
In Ring Fit Adventure, players must perform a variety of exercises to overcome challenges that are suitable for all types of players, regardless of their fitness level. To play, players insert their Nintendo Switch console’s Joy-Con controllers into the accessories included with the game: one into the Ring-Con and one into the Leg Strap. The Leg Strap is secured to the leg, while the Ring-Con is held in both hands. The Ring-Con is a flexible electronic device that provides resistance, and is equipped with a sensor that measures the force applied and reacts to changes. Ring Fit Adventure can be customized to the player’s skill level, so even those with no fitness experience can adjust the intensity of the exercises to find the level that’s right for them and continue to have fun every day.
In Ring Fit Adventure, players explore a vast fantasy world filled with enemies to battle with squats, sit-ups and more. The Ring-Con and Leg Strap, two new accessories included with the game, detect and measure players’ real-world movements and translate those movements into in-game actions. For example, running in place moves the character forward, while squeezing the Ring-Con launches attacks. This way, players can work out different parts of their body by playing daily. Combined with additional minigames and workout programs, Ring Fit Adventure is a fun experience for everyone.
Ring Fit Adventure's Adventure mode is set in a colorful fantasy world where action and fitness meet. Players can run in place to move around the game, which features more than 20 worlds, and use the Ring-Con accessory to perform other actions, such as jumping, floating, or rowing. To progress through the adventure, players must defeat enemies using more than 40 fitness techniques, exercises divided into the categories of arms, abs, legs, and yoga. The game shows users what posture to take during the exercises and rewards correct execution by increasing the damage inflicted by attacks. Each time they perform an action in the game, users earn experience points for their character. Once they have accumulated enough experience, their character levels up, becoming stronger and learning new fitness techniques. Adventure mode is designed to allow players to progress naturally, motivating them to train regularly to level up their physical fitness in the real world.
Outside of the main adventure, Quick Play is a great way to enjoy Ring Fit Adventure in shorter sessions that allow you to drop in and out at any time. This allows multiple people to enjoy quick workouts of all kinds, such as taking turns with friends and family to see who can get the highest score in minigames. Minigames include a wide variety of activities, from smashing boxes with gusts of wind created with the Ring-Con to making pottery by doing squats.
Other modes, such as Workouts and Sets, offer even more workout options. "Workouts" allows players to individually select and perform certain types of physical activities. High scores are recorded, encouraging players to try to beat their own high scores. "Sets" offers linked sequences of different types of exercises, revolving around a theme or a specific body part. This mode is ideal for those who want to work out a particular muscle group, such as the legs, shoulders, back, or torso.
The game also includes a "silent mode" for those who live on the upper floors of an apartment building or don't want to make too much noise. When activated, running is replaced with slightly quieter exercises, allowing players to keep their legs active without making a big impact on the floor.
