The world's most celebrated video game character finally arrives, for what promises to be his most epic adventure yet. The series' classic hallmarks (enormous environments, challenging jumps, and fiendish puzzles) are all present, but this time they're enhanced by interaction with non-player characters, an RPG-style character development system, and brand-new infiltration techniques. The game's plot, filled with intrigue and mystery, finds Lara in trouble with the law in Paris and Prague, searching for five 14th-century paintings known as the Obscura. During her adventure, as she attempts to prove her innocence and prevent the paintings from falling into the wrong hands, Lara finds herself embroiled in shady dealings and grotesque murders, in a tale of blood, betrayal, and revenge that unfolds over hundreds of years...

Lara's latest adventure begins in Paris, where she meets her former mentor, Werner Von Croy, who has been tasked by a mysterious client named Eckhardt to locate five 14th-century paintings known as Obscura. After a heated argument between the two, Lara learns that her mentor has been murdered and, finding herself the prime suspect, decides to go on the run. On the run from the police, Lara follows Eckhardt's trail into the dark alleys of Paris and Prague, where someone is plotting a dastardly plan to resurrect the mysterious Nephilim race. Lara must find the paintings and prevent Eckhardt and a group of fanatics known as the Cabal from reviving ancient alchemical powers. On her journey, Lara meets another adventurer, Kurtis Trent, who is also on Eckhardt's trail.

This latest adventure from the first lady of video games boasts extraordinary technical achievement, with highly detailed environments and spectacular weather and lighting effects. Lara is even more beautiful to look at, featuring 5,000 polygons (compared to about 500 in previous installments) and over 250 animations, providing a surprising array of movements. In addition to classic actions (climbing, swinging, and somersaulting, to name a few), Lara can now engage enemies in melee, perform infiltration maneuvers, and much more.
