The Project at Eden's Gate is a doomsday cult hellbent on saving souls (whether they like it or not), and when they decide to take over the entire region of Hope County, Montana, the locals are left with only two choices - accept salvation or show these fanatics hell.

Rise up alongside the locals and drive out this marauding sect and its charismatic leaders - Joseph Seed and his three brothers, the "Messengers". Enlist the help of ordinary people, take up arms to fight alongside them, and fight against this oppressive sect to regain freedom for all.

The Evolution of the Game

Ubisoft Montreal wanted to take its most successful series beyond the boundaries of what is already known, redefining some of its basic elements, from the exploration component to the narrative structure, from the multiplayer to the cooperative modes.

Mercenaries

Throughout Hope County, groups of rebels are eager to join you in your fight against the cult's occupation of the region. Rescue them, recruit them into the resistance, and fight together against the cult. Allies come in many forms, from friends who join the game in co-op to loyal animals like Boomer the dog and Cheeseburger the brown bear, ready to help you in their own way.

Internal threat

Enter a war that has been brewing for 15 years. Led by the self-styled prophet Joseph Seed, the fanatics of the Eden's Gate Project (the Edenites) have been amassing weapons, supplies, and members in preparation for a hostile takeover of the area.

As a newly hired deputy sheriff, you must lead the locals in their fight against the cult and its leaders. How and when to strike, who to free, and who to leave behind are all decisions you must make that will shape the events around you.

Roam freely

There is no single way to free the people of Hope County. After taking control of the Dutch Island base of operations, it will be up to you to find a way. Discover local points of interest by exploring the region, talking to locals, following clues, and helping those in need.

The adventure will unfold organically: from raids on patrol stations to fishing trips, everything you do will allow you to gain experience and strengthen the Resistance.
