The continent of Fódlan is divided into three nations. At its center stands the Garreg Mach monastery, home to the Officers Academy that trains the future leaders of Fódlan. As a wandering mercenary turned professor, you must choose which of the Academy's three houses you will lead, in school life and on the battlefield.

From the battlefield
To complete the Academy's tasks, you and your students will engage in turn-based battles across Fódlan. For the first time in the series' history, battalions of troops will follow your units to support them on the battlefield. The survival of your students depends on your skill as a commander, so think carefully about your strategy during battles to lead your army to victory.
At the academy
Guide your students and help them reach their full potential at the Officers Academy. Between classes, you can roam freely around the Garreg Mach Monastery to complete assignments and get to know your students better. This will help you forge a closer bond with them while gathering useful information.
