History and context

The famous Professor Layton and his trusty assistant Luke Triton are investigating the disturbing series of unexplained events that have recently occurred in the British capital. But above all, our esteemed Prime Minister Bill Hawks seems to have disappeared into thin air - according to some rumors, the minister has been able to travel through time, some even into the future! For Layton, this could be the most complicated case of his career, but local experts believe that if anyone can solve the case, it's the Professor!

The unfortunate series of events began last week, when a certain Professor Stahngun demonstrated a machine that he claimed could enable time travel. Apparently, the professor did not test his invention very well, as the demonstration resulted in a loud explosion and the subsequent disappearance of our prime minister. What to do now?

But that's not all. According to some sources, other famous scientists from around the world have disappeared without a trace in recent times. Not only that - it seems that Professor Layton shares the theory that time travel is possible. One of our informants even stated that Layton received a letter sent by Luke Triton from the future! Incredible!

Professor Hershel Layton is a famous archaeologist and mystery solver. We know many of his most famous cases, but who is he really? Where does he come from? And what is the origin of his unmistakable hat?

The characters

Layton - The formidable Professor Hershel Layton faces the greatest challenge of his career. To solve the case, he must travel to the future and at the same time delve into the events of his past, reliving ancient memories.

Luke - Young Luke will experience a shocking shock when he finds himself face to face with a future version of himself. But this will not in the least weaken his determination to help Professor Layton solve the most baffling of mysteries.

Flora - already a protagonist of previous Professor Layton games, Flora reappears in this title alongside the ineffable duo of investigators to help them save the fate of London.

Prime Minister Bill Hawks - The failure of a grandiose experiment causes the Prime Minister to disappear. Can Layton and Luke find him before something even more catastrophic happens?

Inspector Chelmey and Barton - the guardians of the law are back, determined not to leave out even a clue that could lead them to the trail of the missing Prime Minister.

Dr Stahngun - inventor of the time machine that breaks down spectacularly during its official unveiling, Dr Stahngun displays an astonishing lack of guilt for someone who has just caused the country's leader to vanish into thin air.

Professor Layton: And The Unwound Future includes more puzzles than ever before! The Professor and Luke will have to deal with over 165 amazing and fun puzzles of different types - mazes, logic games, picture-based puzzles and many more!

Since the puzzles are seamlessly integrated into the story, each time you solve one of them you will feel like you are one step closer to solving the case. You do not have to solve all the puzzles to complete the story; you can always go back and tackle the more difficult ones later. To help you locate the puzzles you have missed, keep an eye out for the fickle bee that appears in the game.

For each of us, there are types of puzzles that are more congenial, while others are more difficult to solve. As you play the game, it will be useful to explore the various settings to find hidden help coins with the stylus. When you find yourself facing a really complex puzzle, you can use these coins to get help and get to the solution more easily.

You can get a maximum of three hints for each puzzle and, if you're really having a hard time, you can also request a Special Help. The Special Help is a very explicit type of help that will allow you to quickly get to the solution.

Each solved puzzle will earn you a different number of picarats depending on its difficulty. Each time you give the wrong answer, your picarats decrease. If you are an avid puzzle solver, try to reach the maximum score! The higher your score at the end of the game, the bigger the final prize!

Professor Layton: And The Unwound Future includes a series of brand new mini-games contained within the Professor's Suitcase that you can play as you progress through the game. Help a parrot deliver packages, draw an obstacle-free path for your toy car, and collect stickers to complete the story album. The mini-games are so much fun that you just can't help but complete them all!

If the normal hints don't help you solve the puzzles, you can now access the special hints. They cost 2 hint coins, but they will really help you find the solution when you don't know what to do anymore! In this game you can also find hint coins and hidden puzzles by interacting with the objects on the screen.
