2K's Visual Concepts studio, the team behind NBA 2K14, has seen it all in the world of video games. Founded in 1988, the team has pioneered numerous new game system launches over the years. Reinvigorated by the technology of the new systems, the veteran VC team developed an entirely new experience for the next-gen NBA 2K14, featuring rebuilt game modes, an all-new game engine, and stunning graphics.

Next-Gen Graphics: To truly take the game to the next level and capture the thousands of interconnected details that create a next-gen visual experience, artists had to change the way they work, starting with the materials that make up the NBA 2K environment: rubber, plastic, metal and vinyl. Previously, artists would recreate each object individually, but now next-gen technology allows the team to build a library of materials with the correct refractive index, amount of reflection and so on. Everything in the game, from the scoreboard and backboards, to human elements like skin texture and sweat, has been recreated to ensure the entire package lives up to next-gen realism.

Eco-Motion Engine: With Eco-Motion, the NBA experience comes to life in new ways: crowd reactions, atmosphere, coach strategies, real player voices and, most importantly, the emotion of the game. Player animations are dynamic and evolve on the fly as you play. Player personalities and emotions also impact the game, influencing how players look and perform on the court.

NBA Today: NBA Today is an all-new feature for the next-gen NBA 2K14. Stats, videos and scores, tied to the real NBA in all-new ways. The focal point of NBA Today is the Daily Zap, with videos of the previous day’s games delivered daily directly to your PS4 or Xbox One from NBA.com. Along with the Daily Zap, players can view the latest standings, scores and top players. The same data is used to edit rosters using the new Dynamic Living Rosters system, all viewable 24 hours a day in NBA Today.
