The action takes place three years after the events of its predecessors Pokémon Red and Blue. In these games, too, the goals are to become the strongest Pokémon Trainer on the one hand, and to register all Pokémon, of which there are now 251 different specimens, in the Pokédex on the other. These creatures can be caught, developed, traded and, for the first time, bred. The player can compete with them to gain experience and become stronger together with them. After receiving eight medals, the player can compete against the top four and become the new champion.

In this edition you can catch 241 Pokémon; the remaining 10 you must trade with a friend.

The battery has been professionally replaced with a new one to restore the memory function.
