In the wake of a disaster of titanic proportions, the landscapes of the globe have changed dramatically. With industries destroyed and the population in a constant struggle for survival, the United States is no longer the power it once was. When the now-weakened USA is invaded by a new superpower, the Federation, and several countries fall under enemy control, the remnants of the United States special forces form an elite paramilitary group called "Ghosts". Together they will fight against the Federation to protect what is left of their land.

In addition to the single-player campaign with cinematic effects, Call of Duty Ghosts , offers new modes and a greater level of customization in online multiplayer. Fan-favorite modes like Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Free-For-All are joined by several new multiplayer battle types that will separate cadets from generals. In Search and Rescue, you must find all the identification medals of fallen allies to revive them, or collect those of enemies to keep them out of action, while in Cranked you must shoot without wasting time - hit an enemy before the timer runs out or you will be the one to be eliminated!

The improved Create-A-Soldier system expands character customization in multiplayer, offering thousands of options to customize your weapon to perfection, and your soldier’s look. By using your budget wisely, you can create characters with even more flexibility. Select a few powerful extras, a wider range of less powerful attachments, or swap out your secondary weapon for more abilities!

Take on an elite team in Squads, a new mode that puts you in control of your team's toughest battles. Take your squad against rivals in real time, challenge offline computer-controlled soldiers, or team up with friends to survive against hordes of enemies. All progress made in Squads carries over to multiplayer XP, making it even easier to unlock gear and advance through the military.
