So how about the slightly silly -- but quite challenging -- Monkey Escape ? While Sony's dual shock analog controller has been used in other games to improve control, this is the first game to require the use of a dual shock analog controller. This gives the player full control over their hero called Spike. One of the sticks can be used to move Spike in different directions, while the other can be used to use his gadgets to capture monkeys.

In Ape Escape, a circus monkey named Spectre stumbles upon a prototype helmet that increases his intelligence and turns him into a malevolent monkey genius. The player takes on the role of Spike, a young friend of the professor who developed the helmet. As such, you must travel through time and capture all the monkeys that Spectre has sent back in his attempt to repopulate the world. If you don't find this story entertaining in and of itself, you'll at least enjoy the monkeys' desperate attempts to escape their pursuit. You'll discover a variety of tools to aid you in your quest. These include the monkeys' radar, a slingshot, and a propeller for flying. While the game is fairly beginner-friendly with its 25 extensive levels, Ape Escape also offers additional challenges for veteran players. For example, one such challenge is to lure a dinosaur near a rocky cliff and then maneuver a monkey off its back and into your web.
