The first one Burnout was one of the purest arcade racing games ever. Eschewing licensing of real vehicles in favor of generic sports, souped-up, or racing cars, and ignoring other games with realistic driving models based on complex physics, Burnout was all about the thrill of pure, high-stakes speed and highly spectacular, impressive crashes. It was a game that encouraged (and actively rewarded) dangerous driving, but this sequel completely outclasses it in comparison. The exceptional gameplay that allowed Burnout to exceed one million units sold has been further improved, refined and made more complete. The many new modes and features added will keep fans of driving games busy for months and months, and will certainly also make Burnout 2: Point of Impact worthy of the title of "classic".

The Championship mode of Burnout 2: Point of Impact is a bigger deal, not least because of the staggering number of new locations, tracks and cars the game has to offer. There are six US locations - Miami, Los Angeles, the Rocky Mountains, New Mexico and a busy international airport - which together offer a whopping 30 hair-raising levels. Again, reckless driving (such as passing vehicles by very close quarters or driving the wrong way) will increase your boost bar, which once filled will allow you to rocket to incredible speeds. With a bit of practice, you can also pull off boost sequences one after the other simply by driving dangerously while in boost mode. As you progress through Championship mode you'll unlock secret vehicles including cop cars, souped-up cars and 1950s racing cars.

To help you on your way to becoming a champion, the new Burnout Driving School offers a complete course (Offensive Driving 101) that will allow you to hone your skills behind the wheel. Two other new modes - Pursuit and Crash - add value to the experience that Burnout has to offer. In Pursuit, you play as a cop in a police car and must chase a getaway car controlled by either the computer or another human. In Crash, players take turns driving through traffic trying to cause the most spectacular crashes possible (based on their insurance rating at the end of the match). This mode is a blast especially when playing in multiplayer; Burnout It's pure fun on four wheels.

Burnout 2: Point of Impact is everything a sequel should be, it's a longer and better game in the truest sense of the word, with genuinely innovative modes and features. The opponent AI has been significantly improved and new weather and particle effects make Burnout 2: Point of Impact an absolute must.
