Fear effect 2: Retro Helix (used guaranteed)

Retro Helix It is set in Hong Kong, in the year 2048. The player will be able to retrace the past of the protagonists of the first Fear Effect - and a new character, Rain Qin - and the events that led them to become a team. In a global pandemic called EINDS (Environmentally Induced Nucleotides Degeneration Syndrome – pronounced "ends"), theft, murder, and terrorism have become a profitable business.

Hana Tsu Vachel and Rain Qin are mercenaries, Royce Glas is an ex-soldier, and Jacob "Deke" Decourt is an assassin. The story focuses on the characters' ability to join forces for a common cause. Initially, each of them has their own motivation that drives them to take part in the adventure, but eventually they will all be drawn into a sinister plot that goes beyond politics, espionage, and individual survival. The adventure is set in multiple settings, including a futuristic Hong Kong, the city of Xi'an, the tomb of the first emperor from the China and finally, the mountain-island of the Immortals, the Mount Penglai.

Personages

  • Hana Tsu Vachel - A mercenary of French and Chinese descent, who was once part of a criminal organization called "The Triad". The Triad still considers her their property and it is partly to get rid of them that Hana goes on high-risk, high-paying missions. Brash, irritable and sarcastic, Hana is as skilled with a tongue as she is with a weapon and is capable of getting out of difficult situations with the most disparate methods and solving problems even with the use of weapons if necessary.
  • Royce Glass - A former commander of the US Armed Forces, an expert in the use of technological weapons and counterintelligence. He was a member of a group so secretive that it was targeted by the CIA. But, after a certain accident, he lost the purpose of his life, turning to alcohol and playing at Russian Roulette. After his encounter with Hana, he will find a purpose and dedicate himself to redemption.
  • Jacob Decourt - A ruthless killer originally from Australia who would kill anyone under any circumstances, as long as he was well paid. But, being a victim of EINDS, more than money he will need a cure. For this reason he works for mysterious people, as long as they are useful to his purpose.
  • Rain Qin - Hana's friend and lover, she is a girl with a past shrouded in mystery. Hana met her during a mission a few years before the story. A tech whiz, Rain is very useful in Hana's missions. She is tormented by memories of people she has never met or doesn't remember, and places she may or may not have visited. These dreams lead her to ask herself a series of questions. existential, on which the game's story is based.

Game Mode

Like the Fear Effect original, the prequel uses character models created with the technique of cel shading and settings created in 2.5D. The player takes control of one of four characters at different times throughout the game, allowing for multiple perspectives on the story.

Retro Helix often features a third-person view. The controls are based on the character's field of view, rather than the players'. However, unlike the first Fear Effect , the new chapter offers the possibility to choose a more traditional configuration. At the disposal of the players there is a small arsenal of weapons - such as guns, shotguns, assault rifles, electromagnetic pulse generators, a taser and a bladed weapon characteristic for each character.

Fear Effect 2 focuses heavily on solving various puzzles to advance the story. Despite the abundance of ammunition, the enemies are few in number and have little dynamic movements. The aim of the gameplay is to evoke tension and suspense and not to participate in the non-stop action typical of shooter. The "Fear" bar has been introduced, which replaces the "Health" bar from the first Fear Effect .
