The new Attacking Intelligence gives footballers the most sophisticated artificial intelligence ever. Players can analyse space, work harder and smarter to penetrate defences, and plan ahead for their next two plays. With the most competitive and intuitive dribbling system ever developed for the series, every touch matters. Inspired by the world’s best player, Lionel Messi, Complete Dribbling allows players to face their opponent and dribble past them with precise touches, combined with true 360° mobility with the ball. This makes it easier to be more creative and dangerous in one-on-one situations. FIFA 13 1st Touch Control transforms the way players control the ball, eliminating the perfect touch for every player on the pitch and creating more opportunities for defenders to win back possession. The second generation of the Player Impact Engine expands the physical game from collisions to off-the-ball battles. Defenders can push or push for position and use their size and strength to force opponents into poor decisions or poor touches before the ball even reaches them. The FIFA 13 Tactical Free Kicks system gives you the tools to create dangerous and unpredictable free kicks. Position up to three players on the ball and use fake runs and multiple passing options to outsmart your opponent.

Characteristics:

Attacking Intelligence: New positioning intelligence enables attacking players to analyze the play and position themselves to create new attacking opportunities. Players work harder and smarter to break through the defense and move to draw defenders out of position, opening up passing lanes for teammates. They also have off-ball vision and the ability to think two plays ahead to create or change their running lines to capitalize on openings as they happen.

Complete Dribbling: Make every touch count with complete control of the ball. Take on defenders with the freedom to be more creative in attack. Players are more explosive in accelerating with the ball and, when facing a defender, can use fine touches with true 360° mobility on the ball. Take on the opponent by moving with the ball in any direction to avoid tackles, turn to shield possession with your body, hold your position and keep defenders at bay for longer periods.

FIFA 13 1st Touch Control: A new system eliminates the near-perfect control of each player, creating uncertainty when receiving difficult balls. Poor passes are harder to control, allowing defenders to take advantage of loose balls and inaccurate touches. Factors such as defensive pressure, ball trajectory and speed of the pass all impact a player’s chances of controlling the ball. Players with more control and skill stand out more. Fewer perfect touches, the possibility of hitting the pass too hard and more opportunities for loose balls create a greater balance between attack and defence.

Player Impact Engine: The second generation of the award-winning engine expands physical play from collisions to off-ball battles, giving defenders more tools to win back possession. They can push or pull to gain position, and use their strength and size to force opponents into making poor decisions or poor touches before the ball reaches them.

FIFA 13 Tactical Free Kicks: Create dangerous and unpredictable free kicks. Position up to three players on the ball and use fake runs, more passing options and more elaborate patterns to confuse the opposition. They will respond by adding or removing men from the wall, slowly advancing it or sending a "bullet man" to intercept the pass or block the shot.

New steps: Two new passing options give players the ability to play precision passes over defenders' outstretched legs or play low through balls, either deep or to teammates.

FIFA 13 Fundamentals: essential elements have been refined to make the experience more realistic. Referees make better decisions on fouls and cards, goalkeeper intelligence has been improved, and tactical defense has more lateral mobility for players in containment. Additionally, new animations have been developed for off-balance shots, 180° shots, and celebrations.
