Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver tells the story of Raziel, one of the undead lieutenants of the vampire lord Kain. Cain is envious of Raziel's newly grown wings: he tears them to pieces and casts his former mate into the underworld. A powerful being living in the underworld has now resurrected Raziel in a lifelike state and sent him on a quest for vengeance.
