MTV Music Generator is a custom music creation simulator for the PlayStation. Developed by Jester Interactive and published by Codemasters Software Company, this mouse-compatible music generator lets you create and save music tracks with special sound effects such as chorus, tempo and reverb for endless possibilities.

In addition to the ability to add various music videos using 3D graphics, MTV Music Generator includes 1,500 riffs and 3,000 instrument sounds to suit everyone's tastes. From rock to techno, pop to jazz, drum and bass to house and rap, creating song mixes for your friends is just the beginning.

With the added bonus of music rights, you will receive a worldwide royalty-free license to make, use, publish and distribute any work created with the Generator, except for any commercial music or video creation products. This also includes any other audio and video components, provided that all works are clearly labeled on the media or packaging with the MTV Music Generator logo, along with a submission to Codemasters of the intended use.

If it seems daunting at first, the disc comes with several templates and several demo songs written by various musicians, allowing you to edit, remix and examine the songs. Each song is accompanied by a video that allows you to edit it. Riffs can also be edited with multiple channels to suit your style, from storing them as palettes to muting, splitting or resizing and cloning riffs. Additionally, drum beats, sound effects, strings, percussion and vocals can be increased or decreased in volume, or changed in timing and pitch to your liking.

Each sampled instrument is stored in the Riffs Library, which can be accessed at the touch of a button. The Chase Library offers a large number of shapes and backgrounds to add to video clips in the Video Library. The Timeline adds additional stages to the ongoing video chase, with transitions for each individual element. If it's easier, you can let the CPU generate one automatically. Jam sessions can be saved to a memory card with up to 15 blocks. Jukebox mode lets you set up a list of songs and videos to play, which is useful for demonstrations or parties.

Music Jam mode is designed for up to four players and allows you to create music by simply playing on a Simon Says-like interface. More than two players require the Multi Tap device. The screen is divided into four sections, one in each corner. Each section represents one of the controllers, where each player will start by loading their own patterns. From here they can use the controller buttons to simulate different musical effects and sounds. Players can also change the tempo, rotate patterns, save sessions, or even access Melody mode for more advanced users.
